City Paint Out

A few weeks ago I participated in the second annual Denver Plein Air Arts Festival. Painting in a city is very different from the paint outs in spectacular scenic areas. You are in the middle of a different energy, you deal with people, traffic, and often difficult subject matter. I found this all to be fun and a stretch for me. Giving myself challenges such as this keeps me on my toes and hopefully adds a new dimension to my work. I also enjoy bystanders amazement that I can paint things that they never really looked at as an art subject. Above is the city scene and the painting from it..."Shadowland".
