Painting in Arkansas

I have just returned from participating in a paint out at Garvan Gardens in Hot Springs, Ark. 20 artists from 4 states were invited to paint these beautiful woodland gardens for 3 days and then display them in an exhibition at the gardens the remainder of Sept. One piece from each artist will then be chosen to be in a traveling exhibition. The weather was a challenge. It rained or threatened to rain every day, so dealing with light wasn't an issue...keeping dry was. I learned to seek dry areas that would still be interesting as well as painting under an umbrella. In spite of Mother Nature testing me I ended up with 6 paintings that I was pleased with. I learned to be persistent, to paint with water dripping onto my palette, and to adjust for difficult lighting conditions.
The exhibition is beautiful and reflects the rainy days we painted. Some work was sold at the opening and I hope that more sales will happen the rest of the month. The sales go towards the gardens.
As soon as I can I will post images of the work I did.
